HUNDREDS of people enjoyed the sunshine on the banks of the Wharfe on Sunday and cheered 3,000 yellow plastic ducks as they raced down the river in the annual Burley Duck Race to raise money for Burley Community Trust as well Burley Scouts and Guides.

Villagers bought tickets corresponding to a number on the underside of each duck and the winners will receive cash prizes.

The race was followed by teas on the village green which was organised by Burley Scouts and Guides.

The Community Trust provides services and facilities to benefit the community. The Trust organises the Christmas Lights, the hanging baskets, and also recently helped to fund the installation of an all-weather cricket pitch with Burley Cricket Club.

In addition to fundraising events the Community Trust also operates a membership scheme where Burley residents can support the work of the Trust. Renewals are now due for the 2017/18 membership year and members can join or renew online at our new website - http://www.burleycommunitytrust.org
