SHIPLEY MP Philip Davies has thanked constituents - including residents of Burley-in-Wharfedale and Menston - for re-electing him for the fourth time.
Mr Davies was returned to Parliament with a majority of 4,681 and an increased percentage of votes from 50 per cent in 2015 to 51.3 per cent last week.
The vote was the highest any candidate of all political parties has secured in Shipley in 25 years and the highest vote share of any candidate in Shipley in 38 years.
Mr Davies said: “I would like to thank the people across the whole of the Shipley constituency for again putting their trust in me to represent them in Parliament for a fourth time. It is a tremendous honour.
“I will continue to play an active role in the local community and also give the best possible service to my constituents and be accessible to anyone who wants to see me or needs help.”
Mr Davies will continue to push for a Shipley Eastern Bypass, to protect the greenbelt around the constituency and for the Shipley and Keighley constituencies to break away from Bradford and form their own Council.
