THE CONSERVATIVES have held Elmet & Rothwell with an increased majority.

Alec Shelbrooke won the seat he has represented since 2010 by receiving 32,352 votes, 9,805 ahead of his nearest rival, Labour's David Nagle, who got 22,547.

Stewart Golton for the Liberal Democrats took third place, with 2,606 votes, with The Yorkshire Party's Matthew Clover receiving 1,042 and Dylan Brown, for the Greens, 995.

The constituency includes rural communities like Harewood and Wetherby along with former mining towns including Garforth and Kippax.
