A CELEBRITY scientist will open a Wharfedale school's new Peace Garden next month.
Dr Marty Jopson will be declaring the feature, plus a new outdoor classroom, open at Pool C of E Primary School's Summer Fair.
The event takes place from 11am to 2pm on Saturday, June 24 and will also include archery, games, inflatables, 'welly wanging' and a variety of food, drink and gift stalls.
PTA Chair Elise Evans said: "The fair will be a great event with lots of fun for all the family.
"This year we are very excited to be opening our Outdoor Class room and Peace Garden.
"This space will be for the children to chill out in during breaks and a safe space for outdoor learning with trees, a 'bird cafe', nature pond and also vegetable patches where the kids can learn about growing food.
"We are very excited to finally be able to show the families what we have been working on over the last year.
"For the grand opening we have asked the science TV presenter, live show performer, writer, strange prop builder and all-round 'science bloke' Dr Marty Jopson, from Otley, to do the honours for us."
Dr Jopson, who appears on BBC 1's The One Show and is one of the key figures behind Otley Science Festival, is set to declare the garden and outdoor classroom open at 1.30pm
Other attractions on the day will include a kids pamper area with face painting, milk shake and Pimms stalls, and a barbecue.
