A LUXURY retirement homes development in Otley has become the fastest-selling site in its developer's history.

Only one property at Adlington House, an £11 million, 48 home riverside development which was completed at the end of 2016, is still available.

Developer Adlington, which specialises in properties for the over 60s, says that means it has set a new record for the company.

Sales Manager at Adlington House, Phil Holyoak, said: "We have been overwhelmed by the levels of interest in the site and have very much enjoyed bringing the Adlington product to West Yorkshire home buyers.

"We always thought that there was a great deal of demand in the town for a new retirement facility, but to have all our apartments reserved within four months of the development being built is a new record for us.

"The 24-hour on-site care and support option, provided by our partner MHA (Methodist Homes), has been a big selling point for many of our homeowners."

The Liberal Democrat Parliamentary candidate for Leeds North West, Greg Mulholland, visited the development recently.

He said: "It was great to visit Adlington House, which provides very attractive new accommodation for over 55s in Otley and helps address this need.

"The team that built it did a great job and it is a very attractive addition to Bridge Street.

"I congratulate the whole team on delivering a very positive development whic enhances our local area, both visually and socially."

Located on the corner of Bridge Street and Mill Lane, Adlington House was built on the former - and long derelict - Otley All Saints Middle School site.
