RABBIT workshops will be held in Guiseley over Easter to teach youngsters how to care for their furry friends.

Children and their parents are being invited to learn about small furry animals at the Pets at Home activity clubs throughout the holidays - and the Easter weekend will be devoted to finding out about rabbits.

The chain is also stopping the sale of rabbits at all of its 430-plus stores from Good Friday to Easter Monday, in order to educate and inform children on the long term commitment and importance of responsible pet ownership.

During the Guiseley store's free rabbit workshops staff will be on hand to share their knowledge, quizzing the children on pet care and the welfare needs of small animals. Sessions will help families to make an informed decision about the long term responsibilities that come with taking on an animal.

Store manager Stewart Bain said: "Our informative workshops help families understand what’s involved in being a responsible pet owner. What’s more they’re also a fun and free way for children to get up close and personal with small furry animals and rabbits during the holidays."

The company already has a system for checking potential pet owners to help combat impulse purchases.
