HORSFORTH and Aireborough MP Stuart Andrew attended the unveiling of a mural celebrating local sporting heroes at the Leeds Hub Library, in Horsforth on February 10.
The mural, depicting Olympic triathletes Jonny and Alistair Brownlee and Horsforth paracyclist David Stone, was painstakingly put together by the Howard Carlisle Water Colour School and in particular Howard Carlisle himself.
The project, which has been ongoing since 2013, will provide a wow factor for the Library and has been supported by private individual donors from Horsforth in Bloom.
Mr Andrew said: "It’s great to see such inspiring art by talented local artists depicting talented local athletes. Howard and the pupils at the school have worked so hard to really provide the Hub with an amazing point of interest. I’d like to thank everyone who has been a part of this project.
"I hope everyone will take the time to have a look and I hope that when they do they feel the great sense of pride in our local talent. I know I do today attending the unveiling of this inspirational work.”
