ADAM Lockwood is determined that his Guiseley players quickly learn the lessons from their humiliating 6-1 FA Trophy defeat at Nuneaton Town.

The Lions boss was forced to issue an apology to his club’s followers for the performance and now he wants his men to bounce back in Saturday’s tricky National League away game at Macclesfield.

He said: “When we have positive results and things go well, everybody should take the credit, but on days like this everybody should feel the pain.

“If people don’t feel the pain, aren’t pulling in the same direction and blaming other people, that is not right.

“Everybody takes plaudits so everybody must take some criticism.

“You win as a team and lose as a team, that s how it have to be. If people don’t learn from this then they don’t stand much chance to be honest.

“We will deal with things in house and put things right.”

As well as suffering a heavy defeat, Guiseley lost central defender Ash Palmer with a leg injury which threatens to keep him out of his club’s fight for survival.

Palmer’s recent form has been impressive. Lockwood said: “Since he came back into the side he has been outstanding.”

Guiseley’s home game with Sutton on January 28 will have to be re-arranged.

Their rivals play Leeds United in the FA Cup fourth round that day after knocking out AFC Wimbledon 3-1 in Tuesday night’s replay.
