A CHARITY which reduces social isolation in elderly people has opened a new centre in Yeadon.

Aireborough Voluntary Services to the Elderly held a clubhouse launch and Christmas Fayre last week after months of planning and hard work.

The group's members, friends and families braved atrocious weather to support AVSED in its new premises within the ANSA Clubhouse on Nunroyd Park, Yeadon. The charity offers a range of activities for elderly people in Aireborough.

A spokeswoman said: "The opening of the Hub means we can hold the Social Centres, cuppa and company and chair based exercise amongst many things, under one roof. There is direct, level access from the car park which means our minibuses can drop off really close to the door."

At the official opening chairman Ken Elliot welcomed everyone and thanked benefactors for their support. Otley and Yeadon councillor Ryk Downes cut the ribbon, and Guiseley and Yeadon councillor Graham Latty officiated at the launch of the new minibus.
