POOL-IN-WHARFEDALE'S Sports and Social Club is to receive an upgrade thanks to a funding boost.
A £1,700 grant from the Outer North West Area Committee will allow the club to refurbish its kitchen and make the entrance of its Arthington Lane base more attractive.
Councillor Barry Anderson (Con, Adel & Wharfedale), who sits on the committee, said: "Pool Sports and Social Club is a vital resource for the community and very well used
by lots of residents locally, as well as visiting sports teams and their supporters.
"I am very pleased we have been able to help them enhance their facilities as there is so much more that they will be able to offer following the kitchen upgrade.
"The Club also wanted to enhance the entrance as they felt that it is not easily identified in its current state, thus people don’t’ always realise it is there.
"By having a more pronounced entrance this should resolve that problem."
