OTLEY'S run-up to Christmas has officially begun with the switching on of the town's festive lights.
Large crowds gathered in the Market Square for the event, plus other Yuletide attractions including carol singing, fairground rides and an appearance by Santa, on Monday, November 28.
There was also live music from local band The Names who were delighted with the turnout.
Posting photographs and comments up online afterwards, the group said: "We think this may have been the most people we have played for!"
Town Mayor Councillor Ian Jackson and Carnival Queen Olivia Bradford, joined by her consort and attendants, 'flicked the switch' at 7pm.
The occasion was then rounded off with a fireworks display.
