HUNDREDS of Otley students received training in life-saving first aid this week.

About 250 Year 9 pupils at Prince Henry's Grammar School took part in the Yorkshire Ambulance Service organised Restart a Heart Day on Tuesday, October 18.

This is the third year that the event, designed to train as many young people as possible in CPR, has been held in conjunction with the British Heart Foundation, Resuscitation Council (UK) and St John Ambulance.

Prince Henry's has been involved every year, with more than 750 of its students trained so far.

The school's Assistant Headteacher for Learning Support, Phil Temple, said: "We are always looking for ways to educate our young people in their responsibilities as part of the wider community, so this campaign is an ideal

complement to our work.

"As always, our students threw themselves into the opportunity with great enthusiasm."

The participating pupils were supported by volunteers from the local Ambulance Service and local hospitals, Community First Responders, the Fire Service and St John Ambulance.
