STUDENTS, teachers and parents at Starlight Academy in Guiseley are celebrating fabulous exam success.

Examinations took place in July, with students taking exams in tap, modern and classical ballet through the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD), a government recognised exam body, and every single student passed with flying colours.

ISTD exams take place under strict exam conditions and external examiner is brought in to test students on their knowledge and ability, giving each a grade from pass to distinction.

Exams took place over three days at the end of the July term, seeing over 100 students working from Pre Primary (youngest age six) up to Intermediate level (oldest age 18) with the highest mark gained by Kessia Hadfield-Walker who received 96 per cent for her Grade 3 Modern. Teachers at the dance school are over joyed with the results,

"All our students worked incredibly hard for these exams and their hard work certainly paid off," said Melanie Hadfield, the school Principal. "Some of these students attend classes at Starlight every day after school, as well as weekends they put in a lot of hours of hard work and dedication, and this has been reflected in their exam results."

Most impressively, the third day of exams were Imperial Classical Ballet, which saw over 30 students perform for the external examiner, and every single student received a distinction meaning they each gained at least 80 marks out of 100.
