OTLEY'S MP and Town Mayor turned out to support an early World's Biggest Coffee Morning event this week.
Otley Bellman Terry Ford was also among the visitors at the Old People's Welfare Centre, on Crossgate, on Monday, September 26.
Macmillan Cancer Support's Otley and Wharfedale Fundraising Group had laid on hot drinks and cakes, a raffle, a tombola and a variety of stalls for the occasion.
They were kept very busy and, while still counting up the takings, hope to have raised a good amount for the charity.
MP Greg Mulholland (Lib Dem, Leeds North West) said: "It was great to see such a high turnout of both volunteers and supporters at the Old People’s Welfare Centre for this.
"It was a very nice event and I wish the centre the very best in raising lots of money for this important cause.
"Thanks to Ros Hutchinson and all of the team for putting the coffee morning on."
Town Mayor Councillor Ian Jackson (Lib Dem, Ashfield) added: "The volunteers did a terrific job and were lovely as always.
"The huge variety of cakes, knitwear and jewellery on sale were all top-quality and handmade.
"I wish them every success in the coming week and beyond."
The event took place a few days ahead of this year's actual World's Biggest Coffee Morning, which takes place on Friday, September 30.
