AN OUTING to the seaside was clearly a big occasion when this photograph was taken in the middle of the 20th century.

There were smiles all round as the group of daytrippers prepared to set off from Yeadon. Dressed in their Sunday best and ranging in age from tiny children to elderly pensioners the group were clearly looking forward to their jaunt.

Although the photograph, from the archives of the Wharfedale Observer, is undated it appears to have been taken in the 1950s or possibly early 1960s.

Fast forward a few decades and these young musicians were happy to pose for a photograph at their school concert. The undated photograph is from the Ilkley Gazette archives and was taken at Moorfield School.
