GIGGLESWICK School is celebrating another record year of A level results with over 67 per cent A* to B grades this year, 10 per cent of candidates achieving at least one A*and 32 per cent A*/A grades.

Average UCAS points have also risen to 331, opening up plenty of fantastic opportunities at leading universities for these students.

The School’s A*to B results have increased by 18.3 per cent over the last two years and many of the Upper Sixth have also achieved exceptional results in their EPQs (Extended Project Qualifications) with 75 per cent at A*/A grades.

Headmaster, Mark Turnbull, who joined Giggleswick in 2014, said of the results: "We are absolutely delighted for our students and it is great to see such excellence across so many different subjects. Our community encourages young people to throw energy into everything they do and today’s results are testimony not only to their hard work but the strong pupil-teacher partnership and our belief in every individual’s potential for success."

Giggleswick is renowned for nurturing a wide range of talents and this year is no exception with everyone from musicians, mathematicians and scientists to designers, linguists and drama students securing their places at leading universities, specialist schools and colleges across the UK.

Dan Chivers, from Ilkley, has achieved A*AA and will be going on to study medicine at Birmingham University. Dan won the School’s ‘Young Musician of the Year’ playing classical guitar and represented the county in rugby and has been accepted as an ESU scholar in America before he starts his course in 2017.
