OTLEY'S Bellman Terry Ford has enjoyed unprecedented success this year in competition.

On August 6 he took part in the Barnoldswick Town Crier Competition against Town Criers from across the region achieving first place in the competition. He was presented with a plaque by the Barnoldswick Town Crier Eliza Mowe.

On Sunday, August 14 he took part in the Town Crier Competition in Knaresborough as part of FEVA (Festival of Entertainment and Visual Arts).

Terry said: "Once again, the competition attracted Criers from across the region, including Malton, Halifax and Bridlington and the Lichfield Town Crier, who had driven from Devon to complete on the day!

"I was fortunate to gain first place again and was delighted and flattered to find I had been given perfect score from each of the judges. This is the first time this has happened in this competition.

"I will be competing in an international Town Crier Competition in the Netherlands in September. I will be the only UK representative, competing against 19 other Criers from Holland, Belgium and Germany.

"On my return I will be competing in Huddersfield's competition. I'm hoping to gain a place in the top three there also."
