OTLEY'S MP has taken part in a fundraising run in memory of an inspirational Wharfedale teaching assistant.

The 10km Run for Sue, which ran from Golden Acre Park at Bramhope through Pool-in-Wharfedale to Otley, was held on Sunday.

It was organised by teacher Jack Tunnecliff in memory of his friend and colleague at St Mary's, Menston, teaching assistant Sue Hope.

Mrs Hope, who had worked at the school since the late 1990s, died in March aged 58.

Sunday's run raised money for one of her favourite charities, the local section – the 198 Otley Group – of the Hosanna House & Children’s Pilgrimage Trust (HCPT).

It finished at Mrs Hope's church, Our Lady and All Saints in Otley, where refreshments were served.

Mr Mulholland said: "I was delighted to take part in the Run for Sue with many of her friends and colleagues.

"It was a well organised run and an enjoyable event afterwards.

"Well done to Jack Tunnecliff and all from St Mary’s, Menston, and Our Lady and All Saints who helped, either by acting as marshals for the run or in organising the event before and afterwards.

"This was a fitting way to remember Sue and has raised money for a cause close to her heart."

HCPT take sick and disabled children to Lourdes, in France, on pilgrimage holidays.
