RESIDENTS from Otley, Menston and Guiseley have enjoyed a trip to find out more about two major figures of the Second World War.
A coachload of visitors from the area headed to Chartwell House and Bletchley Park earlier this month in an excursion organised by Royal British Legion stalwart and Honorary Citizen of Otley, Irene Willis.
Chartwell House was the main home of wartime Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill, while Bletchley Park is where pioneering mathematician Alan Turing led the bid to break Nazi Germany's Enigma code.
Mrs Willis, a Guiseley resident, said: "Everyone enjoyed this two-day, educational trip, which was also organised as an appropriate tribute to The Queen on her 90th birthday.
"I would like to thank Dales Coaches for a safe journey."
Mrs Willis has been organising annual Poppy Appeal concerts for the British Legion for more than a quarter of a century, raising many thousands of pounds for the Poppy Appeal in the process.
