NEW activities have been introduced on the Bolton Abbey Estate to appeal to junior adventurers.

The Welly Walk has been re-imagined for 2016, with new obstacles giving children of all ages the chance to run, crawl, climb, balance and swing as they explore the outdoors.

Highlights include clambering across a wobbly caterpillar, crawling through a ‘warren’ and scaling a 100-year-old tree, under the watchful eye of professional instructors.

The Welly Walk – which is free – stretches for just over a mile and will operate from Saturday until October 30.

Normal estate admission charges of £8 per vehicle apply.

Children can also take part in a pottery workshop, which will be hosted by Pentangle Pottery on June 3. They will learn how to turn clay into a pot sheep and will then paint their creation before it is fired and glazed.

The workshop costs £20 for each child, which includes admission to the estate and all materials.

“Both activities are designed for families to enjoy,” said events and deputy tourism manager, Katie Collin.
