INTERNATIONALLY-renowned jump, jive and swing band King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys have been confirmed to play in the opening weekend of Burley's Summer Festival on August 20.

The group, which has toured every European country and also the USA, Russia and the Middle East during three decades in the business, are to take to the stage at the Queen's Hall, in Burley-in-Wharfedale's Main Street.

Top blues musician and BBC Radio 2 presenter, Paul Jones, described the group as "the hardest act to follow since the parting of the Red Sea"!

Festival treasurer, Jan Lepley, who is organising the King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys gig, said: "We are delighted to have King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys joining us for the festival, and with the group's popularity, we expect this event will sell out very quickly."

Festival organisers have also arranged for a one-hour swing dance workshop at 7pm to precede King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys' performance.

Tickets for the band are priced at £14 and £5 for the dance workshop. They will go on sale at the end of July.

There is a special early bird price £13 for gig tickets for anyone who pre-books with Jan Lepley via Jan.lepley@sky.com before July 25.

Burley's Summer Festival attracts thousands of people each year. Other key events include the fun dog show, classic car show, food and drink market and craft market.
