MORE details about Tour de Yorkshire road closures in Otley – along with a spectator hub – have been announced.

The town is hosting two starts for the cycling event – the women's race and stage two of the men's contest – on April 30.

Leeds City Council has sent a letter to those residents and businesses most likely to be affected to explain exactly what to expect.

It says: "The race route will be temporarily closed to all traffic on a rolling road closure basis, under national police escort, for up to 45 minutes.

"This year there are two races on stage two, both following the same route.

"The women’s race starts in Otley at 8.15am, meaning the [relevant] roads will be affected between 7.45am and 9.45am. The men’s race starts at 2.20pm, meaning the roads will be affected between 1.45pm and 3.45pm."

The affected roads in Otley will be Boroughgate, Westgate, Piper Lane, Bradford Road, West Chevin Road, Burras Lane, Station Road, Bondgate, Crossgate, Nelson Street, Walkergate, Cross Green and the A659 Pool road.

Closures will also affect the A658 Main Street in Pool-in-Wharfedale, A659 Arthington Lane, A659 Otley Road, A61 Harrogate Road and A659 Harewood Avenue as the races progresses on its way to Doncaster.

Cycling fans in Otley, meanwhile, will be able to watch full TV coverage of both races on a big screen that will be set up as part of a spectators hub in Garnett's Field, by the river.
