YOUNGSTERS battled through the snow on Friday to take part in writing workshops and the opening of their school's new library.
Author Emma Barnes visited Yeadon Westfield Junior School to help pupils celebrate World Book Week and to share a few writing tips.
She also opened the school's new library along the headteacher, Lisa Piotrowicz, and Councillor Pat Latty.
Emma was helped by eight children, who had taken part in the school's 'design a mascot' competition.
The new library has been in the making for more than a year. The project was started by teacher, Caroline Scargill, and completed by assistant headteacher, Helen Swallow.
A spokesman said: "All the children in school helped to decide which new books were bought for the library, and some of them have applied for librarian jobs.
"During World Book Week, Helen organised a library week for all the children and parents to see and explore this fantastic new facility. We are all very much looking forward to using the library."
