BELLRINGERS in Otley will take on a melodic fundraising challenge this weekend.

Otley All Saints Bellringers will be attempting to ring the complex Devon Peal in the Parish Church from 2pm on Sunday.

The composition, used in the West Country for striking competitions, is rung on six bells and includes 63 different changes.

The ringers are hoping lots of people will come and listen to their efforts and sponsor them, with proceeds going to the Otley All Saints' Improvement Scheme (OASIS).

Ringing master, Meg Morton, said: "We are ringing this special composition in support of Otley Parish Church's refurbishment fund.

"We hope people will sponsor us in our effort and come to listen when we ring!

"The best place to do so will be in the churchyard, while refreshments will be available in the parish room at the back of the church.

"If it’s nice enough to sit outside, it would be a good idea to bring a picnic chair as there is only one bench.

"We will probably ring through the Devon Peal twice, with a short pause in between for a change of team, as all our ringers want to have a chance to ring. Each peal will take about ten minutes."
