THE WORTH Valley Storytelling Guild has launched a crowdfunding project to produce a storytelling CD.

The disc will help the organisation raise further funds for various community projects put together by its members.

The Worth Valley Storytelling Guild works to advance the education of the art, practice and value of oral storytelling within the Worth Valley community in and beyond.

Guild spokesman Adam Sargant said: “In order to further the aims of the Guild, we want to produce a CD of stories and songs that were originally performed at the Haworth Festival in June 2015.

“They were part of a performance entitled Tam Lin And Other Tales Of Transformation by myself and my daughter, Emily Sargant, who is a singer and musician.

“The event was well-attended and well-received and it occurred to us then that this might be a good way to raise money for the projects that the Guild wishes to get involved in.”

The Storytelling Guild needs £750 to produce the CD and hopes that crowdfunding will help bring in the money.

Adam added: “We have artwork commissioned by a local artist and we have a recording engineer and studio time. The stories are ready.

“With £750 we can make the CD a reality, which will then be sold with all profits going to fund future projects.

“These will include involving local schools in encouraging the next generation of storyteller, a Worth Valley living history project, community building projects and a Haworth Storytelling Festival.”
