ENERGETIC staff from supermarkets in Otley and Aireborough have been clocking up the miles to help charity.

Employees from Sainsbury's stores in Otley, Rawdon and Yeadon all got 'on their bikes' to raise money for their charity for the year, Otley and District Riding for the Disabled (RDA).

Representatives from the different shops cycled to Ripon on September 11 while other colleagues took turns on an exercise bike to support the event, which was part of the 2016 Sainsbury's Big Ride.

Kate Saravanamuttu (pictured), who works in the Otley store's clothing department, was one of those taking turns on a stationery bike in a bid to cycle for "three days solid" using a rota of riders.

Glyn Gumbley and Kathryn Wheelock - a champion horse rider - from the RDA, meanwhile, were also at the supermarket selling tombola tickets in support of the fundraiser.

The efforts at Rawdon raised £675 while at Otley £650 was collected for the charity. The Yeadon store meanwhile, which has a much smaller team of staff, raised £30.
