YORKSHIRE in all its glory is captured in a series of stunning photographs submitted to a competition organised by Aireborough Camera Club.

Scenic shots from around the area have been entered into the club's My Yorkshire open competition and judges have praised the high standard of entry - including winning photographs from talented brother and sister Alexandria and George Sanderson.

The contest, which is sponsored by Aireborough Rotary and local businesses, was launched to involve the general public, and was in its second year.

A spokesman said: "There has been a terrific response to this year’s competition. The standard was very high showing many of the beautiful Yorkshire sights and how we should be justifiably proud of our county.

"The judges have had a difficult but pleasurable task in making the final decisions.

"We would like to thank all those who entered the competition, hope they are not too disappointed and they will enter again next year."

The adult section was won with a picture taken near Malham by Kevin Nutter. Secondary school place went to George Sanderson, 16, of Rawdon, for his picture of the Yorkshire flag taken at Bradford Cathedral. His 11-year-old sister Alexandria won the primary prize with her shot of Knaresborough.

All winners received £25 and adults also got one-year free club membership.

Speaking at the prize presentation at Guiseley Theatre Barry North, President of Aireborough Camera Club said: "This is the second year that we have run an Open Competition to provide an opportunity for the community in general to express their creativity by means of still images. We have to thank our sponsors; Aireborough Rotary Club, the Station pub in Guiseley and Pipe Dreams, the bathroom people for their support and also the judging panel who had a very difficult task in choosing the winning entries. The level of interest this year has been tremendous with an increase in the overall number of entries, particularly in the Primary and Secondary sections, which is very encouraging.”

Second prize in the Adult Section was awarded to Paul Cayton of Guiseley for a picture taken on Ilkley Moor and Third was Carol Hardy of Guiseley with a shot of Swaledale.
