PIONEERING work by Words&Pictures – the Otley-based communications group – could be in line for a major digital award.

The nomination – for ‘innovation in digital, social and mobile communication’ – is for a brand new platform, called We, DLG, developed by a specialist team from Words&Pictures for insurance company Direct Line Group (DLG).

It’s part of a series of national awards organised by Melcrum, one of the world’s leading consultancies and think tanks on internal communications. The awards evening forms part of a three-day Melcrum summit in London in October.

The We, DLG platform is billed as a ‘digital work-based social community’. Content in images, video or text is generated by the company’s employees, with support and guidance from Words&Pictures’ own team of writers, designers and other creative professionals.

The company’s creative director, Andy Holt, said his team is ‘totally delighted’ and honoured that We, DLG had been nominated for the prestigious award. The agency has won more than 140 accolades since its establishment in Leeds 20 years ago.

He added: "It represents a breakthrough in internal communications, and it’s fantastic a Leeds-based company is at the forefront of such key developments.”

Paul Diggins, DLG’s head of internal communications, brand and engagement, said: “The team at Words&Pictures has helped to change the way we bring our organisation to life – not just by telling stories through the eyes of our people, but by letting them tell their own stories. The response has been immense.”

Words&Pictures’ clients also include easyJet, Honda, Asda, Virgin Atlantic, Vodafone, Boots, Bupa and David Lloyd.
