A NEW survey has shown that Otley pubs offer one of the biggest selections of real ales in Yorkshire.

The Otley Pub Club report found that more than 30 different varieties. from 20 Yorkshire breweries, are currently available on draught in the town.

The voluntary group conducted the survey ahead of next week's Yorkshire Week celebrations, and its findings reveal that Otley stocks beers from all over the county, from Wensleydale to Sheffield.

Club Chairman Andy FitzGerald said: "We believe Otley may have the biggest choice of real ales of any place of comparable size anywhere in Yorkshire.

"Coupled with the great choice of pubs, many of them historic, does this make Otley the best place for Yorkshire real ale fans?

"We are delighted the town’s pubs support local breweries so much.

"Not only do they back Yorkshire beers but they also change the varieties regularly, so there is always something different for real ale fans to try."And we expect there will be a few more for the beginning of Yorkshire Week this weekend, when pubs will be flying the Yorkshire flag and several are putting on special events and entertainment, such as free Yorkshire puddings."

The survey found that the most widely available beers in Otley come from the Timothy Taylor, Black Sheep, and Saltaire breweries.
