MUM-OF-ONE Sajeela Shah is organising a charity Bollywood Ball in Bradford later this year inspired by the devoted couple who live nextdoor.

Miss Shah, 35, says John Julian, 87, is her hero for looking after his wife Dorothy, 91, who was diagnosed with dementia in 2001.

Proceeds from the glitzy ball on Saturday, September 12 at the Aagrah Midpoint Suite in Thornbury, from 6pm till midnight, will go to the Alzheimer's Society.

Tickets for the Bollywood-themed event are £25 and include a dinner and disco, there will also be a raffle and auction.

Miss Shah, who lives at Greenbank Avenue, Horsforth and teaches at Benton Park School in Rawdon, said: "John and Dorothy are like family to me. John is a wonderful, caring man. He is so dedicated to Dorothy, he is my hero. There are lots of Johns and Dorothy's out there and I wanted to do something to raise awareness and help."

Anyone interested in buying tickets for the Bollywood and black tie ball or offering prizes for the raffle and auction should contact Miss Shah at sajeelashah@hotmail.com
