TALENTED young people got the chance to show off their skills at Aireborough Performing Arts festival.

Bands, a school choir, dance, skipping demonstrations and original dramas were among the attractions during the three-day event at Yeadon Town Hall.

The festival consisted of two talent shows Let’s Celebrate and a Battle of the Bands.

The annual event is funded by the Outer North West Community Committee from itsYouth Activity Fund.

The inter schools Battle of the Bands took place with individual acts and groups from St Marys, Guiseley and Benton Park competing for a recording studio prize at the Woolpack Studios in Otley and an opportunity to play at the Guiseley Music Festival.

Despite stiff competition the winners, from Guiseley School, were The Elephant Trees who performed two original songs Missing and Up.

Lead singer Martha Philips, 17, said: "It was a great experience playing along-side some of Aireborough’s up and coming talent and we all had a lot of fun."

Runners up The Witness from Benton Park also won an opportunity to perform at Guiseley Music Festival.

Guiseley councillor Pat Latty said the event had been wonderful with excellent performances.
