A MUSIC loving Otley councillor has enjoyed a brief moment of fame on Dutch television.
Town Councillor Nigel Francis (Ind, Danefield) was the only English fan to travel to a special 50th anniversary event in Holland for pop band BZN.
The group, formed in 1965 when a group of friends were asked to perform in the small fishing port of Volendam, are still huge stars in the country.
They marked their half century by holding a Fan Day in Volendam earlier this month, which attracted Coun Francis along with some 300 other loyal followers.
A Dutch TV crew covered the event, and interviewed the Otley councillor - who named local charity Hang on to a Dream, which he chairs, after one of BZN's songs.
He said: "I must say it is the first time I have ever been on Dutch television news!
"I have known the band for almost 30 years and this day was something special as I sat on the top table with the group and their manager, Dick de Boer."
The band also used the anniversary to release a limited edition box set featuring all 27 of their studio albums.
