ILKLEY Rugby Club skipper Stuart Vincent admits he had a tear in his eye as ran out for the biggest game in his club’s history and his last as a player.

There to hand him the ball on the Stacks Field pitch was his four-year-old son Oliver who was decked out in his own Ilkley shirt with Vinnie on the back, on the day when Ilkley won promotion to the National Leagues for the first time in their history Vincent, 32, said: “It was a total surprise and I just about held it together when my team-mates let me run out on my own and found Oliver waiting for me.

“I didn’t have any idea it was going to happen. Oliver is my number one fan.

“He has been coming to matches since he was a baby in a pram.”
