ILKLEY Civic Society will highlight the town’s ancient past as well as more recent history in its 2015 series of heritage walks.

The society, which holds its annual meeting on April 23, at 7.30pm in Church House, has unveiled its new series of walks, including walks held as part of Ilkley Summer Festival this August, and a post-Christmas walk in December.

The walks will trace Ilkley’s history, and focus on a different aspect of local heritage - ranging from Ilkley’s Roman fort to the arrival and extension of the railway.

The first walk of the series will be on Sunday taking a closer look at the Arts and Crafts style houses on Parish Ghyll Drive. Alex Cockshott will lead the walk.

The walks will last between an hour and an hour and a half. Copies of the programme are available at Ilkley Visitor Information Centre at Ilkley Town Hall.
