DETAILS of the 2015 Otley Walking Festival are now available.

This year’s event takes place from Saturday, June 27, to Sunday, July 5, and will feature everything from tough moorland hikes to gentle strolls around town.

The 2014 festival was hailed as the “biggest yet”, and organising committee chairman Ruth Blackwell is hoping for another bumper year.

She said: “The 15th festival opens with a wide choice of events on June 27, and will have attractions and walks each day and evening right through to July 5.

“With 50 walks and events over the nine days, catering for all ages and abilities, there really is something for everyone.

“For the cultured folk of Otley this festival isn’t all about boots, sweat and tears.

“Returning by popular demand are many town-based evening events, like Follow The Strings with Otley Ukulele Orchestra, Walking with Wine, The unbelievable Despicable Liars, Saunter with the Strolling Minstrel, Allotment Walk and the After-Work Stress Buster.

“And along with favourites like the Six Dales Trail and the Cakes and Ale Walk, there are opportunities to try some new themed events.

“They include the Otley Plaque Walk, The Two Trails Tramp, Ilkley to Otley, Wharfedale to Airedale, an Afternoon Tea Stroll, and a Women’s Power Walk.

“The festival’s a great opportunity to enjoy all that Otley and its wonderful Wharfedale countryside has to offer, and people can be sure of a warm welcome from the volunteer walk leaders and the chance to meet other friendly folk.”

Programmes can be viewed online at otleywalkingfestival.co.uk and chevin trek.co.uk or picked up from Otley Courthouse, local libraries, businesses and tourist information centres, and the festival office at Chevin Trek, in Gay Lane.
