A FORMER pupil will take charge of an Apperley Bridge school next year.
Woodhouse Grove has announced that James Lockwood, who started studying at the school in 1986 when he was 13, will become the next headteacher from January, 2016.
A former head prefect and rugby captain at the school, Mr Lockwood went on to gain an MA in Education Management at university and began his teaching career at Exeter School in 1996.
He is currently headteacher of the Royal Hospital School at Holbrook, near Ipswich.
Delighted to be returning to his old stomping ground with his wife, Sarah, and their young family, he said: “It is a great privilege to have the opportunity to return to Woodhouse Grove as its 18th headmaster.”
Woodhouse Grove’s current headteacher, David Humphreys, who has held the post for 19 years, is to be general secretary of the Methodist Independent Schools Trust, of which Woodhouse Grove is a member.
