THE NEW Otley Carnival Queen has been chosen.
Ten-year-old Olivia Driver will succeed current queen Grace Metcalf in the role when she is crowned on Saturday, June 10. Joining Olivia on carnival day will be two fellow pupils from The Whartons Primary School – Deputy Queen elect Charlotte Mitchell and attendant Aimee Stott. The other attendant will be Ashfield Primary School pupil Olivia Bradford, while Lottie Michael, from Westgate Primary, will be this year’s crown bearer.
The queen and her attendants were chosen from a group of six- and 11-year-olds at a meeting in the Otley Aged People’s Welfare Centre. They were interviewed in groups, by judges Ann and Colin Whiers, of Harrogate, and Louise Copley, the director of the Complete Care Agency, which sponsored the evening.
