AS half-term fast approaches, young people and families might like to consider a number of screenings at Ilkley Film Festival.

From February 18 to 22 a total of 40 screenings make up the second Ilkley Film Festival, including 18 premieres and five live accompanied screenings, across three venues in Ilkley – including a travelling cinema.

Suitable for younger children, on Thursday, February 19 Paddington (PG ) will screen at 10.30am at the King’s Hall. A box office hit starring Colin Firth and Imelda Staunton, it tells the tale of a young Peruvian bear who travels to London in search of a home.

Jupiter Ascending (12A) is on at noon on Friday, February 20 at the King’s Hall. Starring Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis, Jupiter Ascending comes from the Wachowskis – better known for the Matrix trilogy. The story follows Jupiter Jones who was born under a night sky with signs predicting that she was destined for great things.

Also on February 20 will be a preview of Eliza Graves (12A) at the travelling cinema at 3pm, with a preview of Blackhat (15) at 3pm at the same venue. Anticipation is already high for Michael Mann’s new cyber thriller Blackhat which will preview in Ilkley on the day of its national release. Set within the world of global cybercrime, Blackhat follows a furloughed convict and his American and Chinese partners as they hunt a high-level cybercrime network.

On Saturday, February 21, Testament of Youth (12A ) will screen at 11am at the King’s Hall. Produced in Yorkshire it is a chance to see God’s Own County on the big screen.
