YOUNGSTERS at Yeadon Westfield Junior School have been amazed and enthralled by The Thing in The Hall.
The hall has been transformed into a magical world with the focus on classic children’s literature – Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Jungle Book and The Enchanted Forest.
Staff have dressed as characters from the books while children have been carrying curriculum activities. The idea originated 16 years ago from a course run by Leeds Playhouse staff, exploring the use of creative environments to stimulate pupils who were reluctant writers, with the school launching the Thing in the Hall every four years.
A spokesman for the school said: “Former pupils have said that The Thing in the Hall is one of their most vivid memories of their time at the school, illustrating the impact of this project.”
