ILKLEY Civic Society is inviting residents and visitors to join its members on a tour to discover the history of Ilkley Town Hall, Ilkley Library and the King's Hall.

The Society is organising the tour on Friday September 12 as part of the national Heritage Open Days scheme.

There will also be a visit to the Winter Garden, which is celebrating its centenary this year.

The tour begins at Ilkley Visitor Information Centre at 10.30am.

There will be a half hour walk afterwards to visit the temporary Town Hall and the site of other buildings used as municipal offices.

The tour will include finding out about the stonemason who carved the figures and roundels on the buildings, who died in the First World War.

In the afternoon, at 2pm there will be a guided tour to explore the history of the building at the Manor House Museum, led by local historian, Mike Dixon.
