The England over50 men’s hockey squad won the Home Nations Tournament at the weekend after coming through a tough match schedule in Belfast.

England were captained by Ben Rhydding veteran, Mark French, who was joined in the team by his club mate, Andy Locke, and Billy Marawaha, a Rhydding stalwart of years gone by who now lives in Lincoln.

The team faced three matches with a squad of just 13 players all in less than 24 hours.

They came out 3-1 winners against both Scotland and Ireland and then had a convincing 6-0 win over Wales, with French netting a short corner for the third, to claim the title.

Both French and Locke will be turning out for the Ben Rhydding Master’s side this coming season, with Locke as the captain, in their defence of the national title they won in May.
