CHURCHES in Ilkley joined together last week (4-8 August) to put on the Mega Makers holiday club at St Margaret’s Church on Queen’s Road.

Between 35 and 40 children attended each day to see what the 'Mega Machine' would produce.

It had special powers to change small things into big things, such as a small bread roll into a giant bread roll, and illustrated the point that God’s love makes everything bigger and better.

Organiser, Ruth Jones, of Churches Together in Ilkley, said: "It was a privilege to spend the week with the children who were so excited to find out more about Jesus each day and take part in the craft activities and games.

"They came armed with some brilliant jokes for us and they had some profound thoughts about the bible stories we taught them. The team of volunteers who put the event on were enthusiastic and full of fun, and we were supported by Lawrence Basham, All Saints’ youth worker, and Kate Mitchell, who is employed by Christchurch to reach out to children and their families."

She added: "St Margaret’s is an amazing venue to transform into holiday club for the week and we are grateful for the support of the staff and clergy."

The next holiday club will be held at the Hollygarth Social Club, Leeds Road, from Tuesday August 26 to Thursday August 28, from 10am to noon, and is based on stories from the Lego Movie.

All primary school children are welcome and details can be found at hollygarthholidayclub.com.
