EARLY figures an overall rise in A-level results across the Bradford District this year.

Bradford Council says there have been some outstanding individual student successes and some schools have performed beyond expectations.

There are early signs that grades in Bradford may have improved from last year while elsewhere in the country that is not necessarily the case.

Bradford Council's Executive Member for Children’s Services, Councillor Ralph Berry,, said: "It is too soon to provide a full picture, but early figures indicate that the performance of students and schools at A-level has risen overall in the Bradford District this year compared with last.

"If this proves to be the case, it could mean Bradford has bucked a less positive trend nationally - which is some achievement."

He added: "Several schools have done even better than expected and all students deserve to be congratulated for their achievements, as they are a credit to themselves and their families, their schools and the district as a whole.”
