Young cyclists in Otley are celebrating a spate of recent victories.

In June, Otley Cycle Club member Jake Powell triumphed in the British Junior Mountain Bike Orienteering Championship at Mabie Forest, in Scotland - repeating his success of 2013.

There was more success for the club's junior riders in the British Schools Cycling Association's Yorkshire Roller Racing Championships. Four year old Daniel Middlebrooke took second place in the Under 7s boys event, while Kitty

Quin dominated all the races in the Under 7s girls class to become Yorkshire Champion.

Emily Middlebrooke also put in three impressive performances in the Under 9s girls race, recording times that were faster than nearly all the boys, but lost out in the final ride-off for the gold medal.

And in the Under 9s boys races James Luxton and Zachary Quin tied for second place, with Zachary winning - by just three tenths of a second - in the ride-off.

The club also enjoyed further achievements at the BSCA National Grass Track championships at Roundhay Park last month, where three of its riders became national champions - Megan Cullen (Under 13 girls), Zoe Kitching (Under 15 girls), and Tom Cullen (Under 15 boys).
