A TEAM of four boys from Westville House School in Ilkley visited the hallowed ground of Harrow School last week to compete in the national finals of the Prep Schools General Knowledge Championships.

Ten-year-oldsBen Clifford and Oliver Watson and nine-year-old James Burke and eight-year-old Caleb Shaw travelled to Harrow along with families and staff for support, to face stiff competition from 11 other very large, selective schools.

Having already beaten 250 other schools to win a place in the finals, the Westville team were up against many of the large London Schools including Wetherby Preparatory School and Dulwich College.

After a nail biting competition Westville were proud to come sixth out of twelve and were the top northern school.

Amanda Blair, organiser of the Quiz Club National Finals, said: "We are always so incredibly impressed with the children from Westville House School as they are often up against some very large selective schools and yet they always seem to be right up there at the top of the scoreboard!"

Eventually Bedford Modern School won, with the tie for third place being fought over by three schools in the very last question. Westville House was one of those schools.
