THE growing band of volunteer guides are keen to recruit more help as they get ready for the Tour de France.
As many as 50,000 visitors are expected to descend on Ilkley for the visit of the Grand Depart from July 4 to 6.
Ilkley Soroptimists were delighted by the response to the appeal for volunteer guides, and would like to thank each of them in advance. The Ilkley Guides will be based at two information points in the town and be around the main streets ready to give our visitors that welcome and local information that any visitor might need.
The Guides will be identified by high-visibility jackets which have been sponsored by The Wheatley Arms, Ben Rhydding
Anyone else interested in becoming a guide is asked to contact siilkley@gmail.com.
The task will take just a couple of hours of each volunteer's time, with a short briefing session beforehand.
