Councillors are welcoming a new bus service linking Leeds, Horsforth, Yeadon and Guiseley.

First Bus is implementing the X33 service to enable residents from the outer areas in the North West of Leeds to reach the city centre faster at peak times.  Guiseley and Rawdon councillor Paul Wadsworth said he has been requesting the service for some time and was ecstatic that First Bus had agreed the route was needed.

“This new limited stop service will help residents to get into the city faster than they would be able to by car, hopefully going some way to assisting with congestion issues on the A65 at peak times,” he said.

Yeadon councillor Ryk Downes said the changes to the 33/33A services, being introduced this month, were designed to improve frequencies and had arisen from consultation in 2013.

When the changes were announced in March he said: “A new X33 service is to be welcomed, but passengers need to note it will not call at the bus station, as it terminates on Park Row. I am concerned about the short running 33As no longer coming to Yeadon, but turning round at Horsforth.

“I have been assured by Metro that First are satisfied that they have managed to implement these changes to benefit all who took part in the consultation. In addition there are the extra 757s that stop at the top of the High Street.”
