A team of healthcare staffing specialists has signed up for a Race to Life to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
Following a call from the charity for local women to “show cancer who’s boss”, a team from Twenty Four Seven Nursing, based on Grove Promenade, Ilkley, is in training for the event.
Organisers hoping to get 1,000 women and girls taking part with the aim of raising £60,000 by taking part in the 5k event at East Holmes Field, Ilkley, on Sunday, July 13.
The team of ten staff from Twenty Four Seven Nursing have set themselves a fundraising target of £500. They are asking for donations via a Just Giving page.
Georgina Rose-Fall, who lives in Ilkley and is Twenty Four Seven Nursing's sales and customer service representative, said: “When we saw that this year’s Race for Life in Ilkley was open for entries, we were really keen to represent our town and Twenty Four Seven Nursing by taking part, as it’s for such a good cause.
“We’ve got a number of quite feisty women in the team so it wasn't too difficult to persuade others to get involved!
“Rachel, Stacey, April, Julie, Emma, Vikki, Tracy, Kirsty, Jo and I are already motivating each other with our strict training regime and we’ve already raised £120, but we’ve got a long way to go so hope that the generous donations will keep coming.”
