Police were called out to a fire-ravaged factory site in Rawdon last weekend after receiving a call about potential scrap thieves.
Three cars attended the scene at Airedale International Air Conditioning, off Leeds Road, at about 11.30pm on Saturday.
Upon investigating, however, officers found that the banging noises that had aroused suspicions were actually being caused by the wind slamming metal doors.
The Airedale factory was devastated by fire last September but the company, which is currently working from a temporary new base in Leeds, has submitted rebuilding plans and aims to move back this year.
