A new re-opening date has been confirmed for one of the region’s most prominently-positioned pubs.

The Royalty, which enjoys panoramic views thanks to its location on top of Otley Chevin but has been closed for the past two and a half years, will now re-open on Tuesday, March 11.

As reported last week, the Yorkgate inn was originally due to open its doors to the public again, following a major refurbishment, on Thursday, February 27.

But owners the Mornington Pub Company this week announced the later date to allow it to conduct staff training, run menu trials and make other final preparations.

The company has also confirmed that a new management team, Michael Adams and Laura Irving, will now be running the pub.

Otley Pub Club has hailed the imminent reopening of the iconic pub as “a great relief”.
